Seeing God Is A Privilege: Only A Selected Few Ever Get A Chance To See God
We have seen that God is extremely selective in determining who He would see. What we need to do is to do the right things so that we will be the lucky ones ahead of others who get this privilege.
We read in the old testament times a few actually saw God. The number dwindled substantially in the new testament times as God appeared only rarely.
John saw God on the cross.
Jesus appeared to about 500 persons after his resurrection, according to the bible. The 501-st person was St. Paul when Jesus appeared in front of him and demanded why he is torturing Him. Sunder Singh in North India is believed to have seen Jesus.
Even today, a very select people see Jesus. Church is a vehicle we can use to see Jesus (or increasing our odds of being selected for the privilege.). Now church is the body. The problem is that only eyes can see. The rest of the body cannot see.
All of us have three parts - Mind, Body and Soul or Spirit.
Human soul is BIGGER than this universe. Our soul extends from hell to heaven. So, even when we are alive we have already tasted both hell and heaven.
Now this may be confusing to some. How can we have experienced heaven. When Jesus resurrected, there was a side of us that was resurrected with Jesus.
Ephesians 2:1 suggests that we have died from our sins. We had been living in the temptations of the world.
Question is can the body continue to live after the soul is dead? The answer is Yes and bible proves it.
Ezekiel 18:4 states that:
For all souls are mine to judge - fathers and sons alike - and my rule is this: It is for a man's own sins that he will die.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. That soul is the one Jesus came to resurrect.
In Genesis 2:17, God told Adam that he will die if he eats the forbidden fruit. They did (Genesis 3:6); so they died in soul, but continued to live in body. In fact Adam lived 930 years before he died in body (Genesis 5:3). So, a person can continue to live several years even after his soul is dead.
Revelation 3:1 calls the church in Sardis as a live and active church; but, nevertheless, dead.
What what this means is that we can be dead in the soul, but can be alive bodily. The problem is that if you want to see God or go to him, we need to be alive. Only the soul that is alive can see and taste God.
