Jesus in his sermon on the mount stated clearly who will see God. In Mathew 5:8, it states:
Happy are those whose hearts are pure, for they shall see God.
We need to look at the things or actions that make us unclean, those that keep us from seeing God. Uncleanliness starts from the mind. (Jesus had pointed out that what goes into the body does not make us unclean. It is what comes out of us that makes us unclean.) There are a long list of these items that are not worthy for the Temple of God. The list starts with pride and foolishness. This, then, become deed. It includes, pride, selfishness, unholiness, stupidity, cheating, etc. What makes these deadly is that these are the type of things people generally won't notice in the beginning. But as we gown the list, we get too much into it when people start noticing and then it will be too late to do anything. We are into too deep in it.
Ezekiel 28:12-16 describes the beauty of the snake before he tempted Eve. The scriptures says that "he was the perfection of wisdom and beauty" before it committed the sin and fell from the grace of God. He was perfect in everything he did from the first time he was born till the time he was overtaken by sin. The wealth corrupted the person and tempted him to sin. His heart was full of pride because of all the beauty. He corrupted his wisdom for the sake of his splendor. He defiled his holiness with lust for gain. He was destroyed by the fire that originated within himself. This part of the scripture tells us clearly what can happen when we sin and turns away from the God. Our great assets can become our greatest liabilities.
We need to be on constant alert from the trappings of satan. We catch fish by a bait. The fish see the worm and bite on it and then gets "hooked." Same thing happens with Satan. He sets traps for us with everyday things, that glitter, that attracts us. Remember, all that glitters is not gold. All that looks good to you may not be good at all. Keep a careful eye to make sure that satan won't trap us from sinning.
1 John 3:10-11 gives us some guidelines.
So now we can tell who is a child of God and who belongs to Satan. Whoever is living a life of sin and doesn't love his brother shows that he is not in God's family; for the message to us from the beginning has been that we should love one another.
