How To See God?
You Need to Be Prepared Before You Can See God
In the old testament times when God used to appear personally, he still limited those events to very selected number of people. For example, we read from Exodus 24:9, that 74 persons got the chance to see God directly. "Under His feet, there seemed to be a pavement of brilliant sapphire stones, as clear as the heavens." And in verse 24:11, the bible says that even though the elders saw God, he did not destroy them. They had a meal together before God. This part of the bible suggest that we should be prepared before we can see God.
After the meeting, God had asked Moses and his assistant Joshua to come up to the mountain to receive the tablets of ten commandments. He asked the remaining elders to wait below for them. Again, notice how selective God is in determining who He want to appear in front of.
Moses and Joshua had to wait 6 days in the mountain to be in preparation for meeting with God. (We need to prepare before we can see God.) On the seventh day, God appeared before Moses. Those waiting below saw the awesome sight of the glory of the god in the mountain. The top of the mountain "looked like a raging fire."
