Quotes, Thought of the Day

"I will never leave nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous...Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with where ever you go...No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life".
(Joshua 1:5,7, 9)

"Do not be afraid of them...for I am with you and will rescue you. They will fight against you, but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you."
(Jer:1:8,18-19)

"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible."

St. Francis of Assisi

An American would call a Russian his biggest enemy. A Pakistani would say his greatest enemy would be an Indian. But a Malayalee's biggest enemy will be another Malayalee!! We just cannot see another Malayalee being better than us. It is there in our blood!!

Dr. Nigel Kuriakose, Mangalore (ICON)

I found that my main sin was that I had not given God the place and respect due to Him. I was willing to attend any meeting called for by our Boss in time, but I had not been willing to attend the call of the Church Bells. I found that this sin of mine surpassed the rest. God gave me 24X7 hours, money, health, children, but I respected my General Manager more than I respected God who died on a Cross for me. I realized the hollowness of my faith. I realized that I was a worm. It was like the prodigal realizing that he lived among pigs. I was humbled.

It is not the material things in life that will bring you more joy. Just look around us. The greatest pleasures in life are absolutely free.

Just for openers, think about love; marriage; families; friends; children; grandchildren; sunsets, sunrises, moonlight nights, twinkling stars; little babies; the gifts of touch, taste, smell, hearing, eyesight; good health; flowers; lakes; clouds; sex; the ability to make choices; and even life itself. These are all free.

James Hunter, The Servant

Remember that we are all weak and are very easily overcome by passions. Therefore be meek and patient to those who sin against you, knowing that you yourself often suffer from the same infirmity as your brother. Forgive those who trespass against you, so that God may forgive your trespasses incomparably greater than the trespasses of others against you. Always be calm, patient, kind-hearted, unsuspicious, and firm, and you will always triumph over your enemies.

Fr. John of Kronstadt, Spiritual Counsels

"Don't be afraid of your enemies; always be courageous, and this will prove to them that they will lose and that you will win, because it is God who gives you the victory."

Philippians 1:28

"Triumph of evil and destructive forces is only temporary. The ultimate victory & triumph is that of sacrificial love, nobility, and spirit of reconciliation for peace."

Let our hearts be filled with this thought and let the spirit of divinity in all of us help us to practice this in our lives and help the world to achieve this real peace on earth.

"When one door closes, another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us."

Alexander Graham Bell

"The one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead." Philippians 3:13

"All the while planning evil in their perverted minds, stirring up trouble everywhere. Because of this, disaster will strike them without warning, and they will be fatally wounded." Proverbs 6:14-15

"No man has understanding if he is not humble, and he who lacks humility is devoid of understanding.

No man is humble if he is not peaceful, and he who is not peaceful is not humble.

And no man is peaceful without rejoicing. In all the paths upon which men journey in this world they will find no peace, until they draw nigh to hope in God."

St. Isaac the Syrian

In my mind God is more interested in knowing how we serve the living than fight for the bones of our forefathers. God is more interested in TRUTH of worship than WHERE we worship.
The truth will set you free; but first it will make you maaad!

(Re: Split in the church) During the upcoming lent season, let us ask ourselves one question: Are we just white washed sepulchers? We will conveniently forget our differences when it comes to the marriage of our children. I am talking about both factions. It is a shame dear ones.

Why are we perpetrating this hatred? For whose sake? I pray to God, so that all of us will have the courage and conviction to once and for all end this great wall. Let God almighty help us to achieve it.
Baby (Varghese Plammoottil) New Jersey

"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance character; and character hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."
Romans 5:3-5

"I believe our Church needs to concentrate in our mission and God's vision. We are not the people selected for riots and cases. We are not selected to play politics in Church. Our priests and bishops are not selected for money-making business with the post. We lack prayer life in our Church as well as in our community. We are good in reciting the prayer in church and other places but are we praying from our mind? If we can change, it will definitely do miracles."

Charly V. Padanilam, Houston, TX.

"It is a natural earthly rule that when one tries to do more and more good...you will automatically find more and more enemies... "
(In reference to criticism of Very Rev. PC Yohannan Remban, Manager, Pampady Mar Kuriakose Dayara)
George Abraham, Abu Dhabi

Christian is one who is in Christ. And to be in Christ means, to be in the body of Christ which is none other than the Holy Church. The faithful is always in a journey. This journey has been likened to the journey of the Israel to the promised land from the crutches of Pharaoh. The Church in this mortal world is only shadow of the one that is above which is the real Holy Church.
Ypdkno Dr. Paul Samuel

"Christ the Lord came, as the strongest expression of God's unchanging love for mankind, to rekindle the extinct fire of love in the hearts of God's children, and to make natural once more that which had, at one time, been completely normal to man, as to the angels, and had in time become unnatural. Were a mother not to love her child, could that child love its mother? Were God not to love man, could man love God? But God, from the beginning - and from before the beginning - loves man, and it is therefore natural for man to love God."
Bishop Nikolai Velimirovich.

"He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."
John 14:21

"The Church leaders are not concerned about the issues and problems faced by the common man. They are protecting the vested interests of elite class in the Church. The people in the community have become narrow-minded than ever before.”
HE Geevarghese Mar Kurilose

"Repentance lifts a man up.
Mourning knocks at heaven's gate.
Holy humility opens it.
This I say, and I worship a Trinity in Unity and a Unity in Trinity."
St. John Climacus

"Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10

"I am not interested in what man says about God, I am interested in what God says about man. Man's greatest wisdom is lower than God's foolishness, if there were such a thing. Satan's lies are very slick and deceiving and piled on thick."
David Harvey

"...at times God allows the demons to attack even one who has reached a measure of perfection, and leaves his intellect without light, so that his free will shall not be completely constrained by the bonds of grace. The purpose of this is not only to lead us to overcome sin through ascetic effort but also to help us advance still further in spiritual experience. For what is considered perfection in a pupil is far from perfect when compared with the richness of God, who instructs us in a love which would still seek to surpass itself, even if we were able to climb to the top of Jacob's ladder by our own efforts."

St. Diadichos of Photiki

Quote of the Day:

“The reason for disunity in society is selfishness of people. Where there is prayer with faith, there is peace. Love and unity will be there only where there is peace. For this you need to acquire penance and knowledge. Do not sleep any night without reading the Holy Scriptures. If your faith has met with any damage, it has to be repaired.

H. H. Baselius Marthoma Didimus I, Feb 13, 2008

“Only if the family gets better, the society will be better. Only if the Society is better, the nation will be better.”

H. G. Philipose Mar Yausebias
